We can experience a heavy influx on our small and mighty team during these periods, so we've outlined a comprehensive FAQ for you to browse at your leisure.

SHIPPING & DELIVERY

How much is shipping?

Shipping is always free-whether you're in Melbourne or Madrid, we've got you covered.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! Rolled artworks ship worldwide and shipping is complimentary. We only ship framed artworks within Australia due to the risk of damage.

We have sent artworks to every continent in the world without issue. Even artworks sent to the Bermuda triangle arrived safely, so there's that.

Should an issue ever arise with the safe delivery of your artwork, we will send a replacement at no cost (although this is super super rare)

Can you ship framed artworks internationally?

No. Framed artworks are too fragile for international delivery. We recommend framing locally and are happy to help with advice and details.

When will my artwork arrive?

During peak periods, like Black Friday:

Rolled artworks:
3-4 Weeks Dispatch
Shipped straight from our studio & workshop in Mornington Peninsula, VIC.

Framed Artworks: 6-8 Weeks Dispatch Custom framed artworks are a little on the longer side for custom framing. They are all custom handmade to order so this takes a bit of time.

Can I delay my delivery?

Yes, please reach out as soon as possible to howdy@stephbrookestudio.com and we can place your order on hold until your requested delivery date.

Can I change my delivery address?

Yes you can! Please reach out and let us know your preferred address as soon as possible to howdy@stephbrookestudio.com

CHOOSING AN ARTWORK

"I love too many of them and I cant decide"

It feels cheesy us writing this in here, but it really is the most common problem we hear. This is good news! There's clearly many options for you to pick from.

First step in narrowing it down, would be to go through the sizing of the artwork. This is really important. When you have the dimensions you are looking for, its naturally going to create a shorter list - through either the orientation or the availability (some are really sold out forever i'm afraid). Head over to the section 'Help me choose a size' for the full run down.

Once you have a size, we start with what feels right, not what matches your cushions. Art should connect to your mood, your memories, and your space’s atmosphere - you can get new cushions.

Now colour... on to the next one slide.

"I can't decide on a colour"

I'd like to change your way of thinking here... its probably not a colour that you are set on. It's the value, hue and intensity of that colour. Lets use real world examples to explain the colour blue;

Sky blue, light and airy and soft
Ocean blue, deep and intense and vibrant
Night Sky - Its not back, its navy... deep, moody and grounding

They’re all blue, but each tells a different story. One pastel, one bright and one muted. I am confident there wont be any others - because I painted them!

Now, can you look around your home, or even in your wardrobe and collect a few things that are colours that you love? Chances are, you'll see a pattern in the value, hue and intensity of those colours. This means, that you already have a colour palette and they all sorta go together because it is what you like - its apart of your essence.

Now back to the art, have you shortlisted artworks that tell a colour story? is there any outliers in there, something that is different to the rest? Let's pop any outliers to the side for now, we call that an accent colour and its to be used 10% of the time - not for the artwork.

With the shortlisted few we will go over the checklist:
1. It is available in the size that i need
2. It aligns with the colour story that is personal to me
3. It makes me happy.

This should narrow it down considerably for you, if not help you make a final selection. You are always welcome to reach out if you need to chat or to hear a friendly voice. You can call or email us at howdy@stephbrookestudio.com

Can I send a photo of my wall for suggestions?

Absolutely! We love helping with styling advice. Customers can send through a photo of their wall and the artworks they're considering - we'll suggest what will suit best (e.g., one large piece or two smaller ones).

Can you create a digital mock up of an artwork in my house?

We are unfortunately not able to offer this service during our sale periods. However, outside of sale periods this is definitely something we can do for you!

How do I pick the right size?

We have a whole section on this to the left, it deserves its own column!

FINDING THE PERFECT SIZE

1. Find your anchor point

Decide where the artwork will sit. Above a sofa, console, bed, in or dining table or hallways/entryway. Your anchor furniture will help determine the right proportions.

2. Measure the total width of the space

Use a tape measure to find the full width of the wall, or the space between any architectural boundaries (like windows or doorframes).

3. Apply the 2/3 rule of design

As a guide, your artwork should be about 2/3 the width of the furniture it sits above.

For example, if your sofa is 210 cm wide, look for a piece around 140 cm wide.

Calculation Example:
210 Divided by 3 = 70
70 Times by 2 = 140
Now we have a range to work with. I'd say anything between 135cm - 160cm would work well.

If an artwork is in-between these numbers, go larger. Smaller doesn't work better than larger in this case.

For standalone walls (no furniture), you can go larger — leave about 15–30 cm of breathing space around the edges.

4. Map it out

Use painter’s tape to outline where the artwork would sit. Step back and view it from different points in the room to get a sense of balance.

5. Check the height

When hanging above furniture, leave around 15–25 cm of space between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the frame. The artwork should be hung at eye level...even if you have reallly tall ceilings - always eye level.

6. Consider shape and pairing

Wide walls suit horizontal pieces or a pair of square artworks.

Tall, narrow spaces (like entryways) work beautifully with vertical or square pieces.

7. Final check

If you’re unsure between two sizes, always lean larger - it will feel more intentional and proportionate once hung.

Of course you can reach out to us at howdy@stephbrookestudio.com for our personal recommendations.

Artwork Details & Options

Absolutely! We love helping with styling advice. Customers can send through a photo of their wall and the artworks they're considering - we'll suggest what will suit best (e.g., one large piece or two smaller ones).

Yes...But unfortunately we are not able to offer this service during our sale periods. Outside of sale periods this is definitely something we can do for you!

Yes! Originals are available at the time of release, but they sell out fast to our collector list - which is why it would appear that there is always none!

Collectors wishing to own an original artwork need to subscribe to our newsletter for sneak previews and access to purchase new work.

Steph's original artworks take months to make so there is only a limited amount she cant paint in a year.

No. Limited edition means the edition has a specific number attached to it. If the artwork says 20 per size, we print exactly 20 per size in that run! Once the 20th artwork in the edition is printed, there will be no more and you will not be able to purchase it.

Once they're sold out, they're gone for good. This maintains the collectability of the artwork and ensures that your home isnt the same as everyone else's. We would like your sanctuary to look and feel as unique as you are.

  • Satin Canvas (340gsm, satin finish): Closest to Steph's originals, durable and water-resistant, deep colour vibrancy. Available rolled or framed.

  • Fine Art Paper (320gsm, matte finish): Archival-grade paper offering museum-quality detail. Must be framed under perspex or glass.

Framing Options:
Canvas (framed or stretched)
Paper (rolled or framed behind perspex)
Timber Options:
Oak, Blackwood, Whitewash, Black

Frame Depth: 5.5cm off the wall, 10mm front face

We print a 50mm mirrored border + 10mm white (it’s not the actual artwork) on our canvas prints. This edge is wrapped around the side of the stretcher bar when you get the artworks framed, so you won't end up seeing it. Rather than having plain white space, we use the mirrored edge to subtly blend around the stretcher and between the frame - it makes for a nicer finish.

Steph is not taking commissions at this time. With full transparency, the waiting list became so long that its more than she could paint in a lifetime. Instead of holding on to false hope, we've closed this list for now.

But it is Black Friday after all…we've decided to give one lucky collector who purchases during the sale a chance to win a commission… a chance for you to have an artwork created just for you. A special chance to co-create and bring to life an artwork that feels uniquely you. It's something you can no longer buy, so its super special. keep your eyes peeled 👀🤷‍♀️

Definitely not! We don't offer digital files for sale. Maintaining the integrity of limited editions is central to what we do. Offering files makes it impossible to ensure the exclusivity, quality control, and longevity of the artwork as intended by the artist.

During the sale period, studio visits are available by appointment only on Wednesdays between 10am - 2pm. Please email howdy@stephbrookestudio.com to arrange a time with us.

Just a little FYI regarding what we have in the studio as we are not open to the public - we don't have all the artworks sitting here framed and ready to see. There are a select few around and samples we can show you and a lot being printed - but Steph’s painting studio isn't set up like a gallery and you won’t be able to see all of the full artworks on the day.

We can send you home with complimentary samples - and you can take a peek at whats on the printer and delivery run of our collectors from around the world <3

Sure! Please reach out to howdy@stephbrookestudio.com if you would like to see more videos or photos of any artworks and we will see if we can help!

Reach out to us as soon as possible at howdy@stephbrookestudio.com and we can help you correct your order before we begin production.

To preserve the print quality, avoid direct sunlight and moisture, and handle with clean, dry hands. If you receive a rolled print, we recommend storing it vertically and leaving it in its tube until you are ready to take it to your framer to avoid any damage.

Common Questions, Answered

What is a limited edition print?

Each limited edition print at Steph Brooke Studio is part of a carefully curated, finite collection. This means only a set number of prints are created in each size and material. Once an edition is sold out, they’re gone forever and will never be reprinted.

This makes your artwork special for a few reasons; first of all not absolutely everyone will have it! It makes sure your home is uniquely you and your treasured and collected artwork isn't a trend. Its a forever love, and its special. You're 1 of 20 people who have that sized edition artwork in the world.

Each edition comes with a signed certificate of authenticity marking its number (ie. 8/20) verifying its exclusivity & value.

I'm ordering a rolled artwork...what do I tell my local framer?

We love that you are supporting your local framer!! Big virtual hugs to you, my friend!

We've got our framing team to show you! Unmute the video for tips from our framer... particularly regarding the mirrored edge.

What do the framing timbers look like?

Heres a photo!

TOP: White
MIDDLE UPPER: Black
MIDDLE LOWER: Blackwood
BOTTOM: Oak

I'm a little reluctant to put these pictures on every artwork page because natural raw mateirals like timber come with a variation in tone. It's got to do with the age of the timber and how much oxygen has been exposed it.

When timbers are freshly milled, they are lighter in colour and as they age naturally they become slightly darker. So while we can use the same species and do our best to show you, there are no two trees the same and there will be variations in the natural material.

Good news! Theres an easy fix for this if you would like to see the exact colour - pop in and support your local framer (preferably a small business) and have a look in person. You'll be able to customise your timbers to exactly your taste.

We will always advocate for small businesses in your community and this is a win-win situation for all. You get to see your framing timber in person, and your community framer is supported by your business.

Shipping Rolled Artworks / Shipping Internationally

Here's a video of how we pack and ship your rolled artworks. It's the safest way for artwork to travel - the end!

Just kidding. We wrap your artwork in cellophane to protect it from scratching. Then it goes into a 100mm tube where we push the cellophane into the artwork to protect the edged from creasing during transit. We then seal the tube with end caps and tape to protect it from the outside elements. We've never had an artwork arrived damaged this way.

Tip: storing your rolled artwork
If you need to store your artwork for a little while before its framed (or the house reno completes in a billion years) leave it standing upright in a cool and dark place. Try not to lay it flat on the ground long ways for extended periods of time.

Will a sold-out print be restocked?

Nope — once an edition is sold out, it’s gone forever. If there’s a particular piece you love, we recommend joining the mailing list for upcoming releases.

You can read more about this above in 'what is a limited edition print?'
